Nintendo keeps impressing the worldwide population months after it released its last and newest console: the Nintendo Switch. As the data shows, sales and profits keep climbing to the sky, just as people continue talking about the renovated Japanese company. According to the recently-released quarterly earnings, this new console outsold its predecessor’s lifetime sells in only ten months.

The financial 10-month performance that Nintendo detailed Monday shows the amazing profit that the Japanese company did just until December 2017. On last year, we did not only see the launching of the latest console, but also the release of two incredible and well-expected games – Super Mario Odyssey, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The real question is: how many people did not really imagine the path that Nintendo was taken after it created such commotion among the public? It is no a surprise that both its sales and profits are high, as they really only show a simple and sincere reflection of the company’s success.

Sales, on one hand, were noted in $7.9 billion. Thus, increasing 176 percent over the same period in 2016.

Profits, on the other hand, were estimated at $1.4 billion – 494 percent higher if we compared them to 2016.

According to Nintendo, this excellent performance is due to the Switch hardware sales, which “sold well following the launch and sales rose substantially during the holiday season.”

When Nintendo released the Switch, it sold around 2.74 million units around all the world – only in its first month. And if you think you’re impressed, add it now the 12.13 million that the company achieved to sell on the following nine months. This would result in almost 15 million units sold.

Meanwhile, the time keeps passing.

Overall sells of units

There’s no certain and official information on the Wii U sells since it was launched in 2012. However, experts estimate that the Switch outsold it.

The Japanese company sold 9 million units of Super Mario Odyssey in just the 10-month period, and 7.3 million units of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe since it was released in April 2017. Likewise, there are other plenty of games that Nintendo also released on 2017 and it’s planning to launch this 2018.

As the paper stated, the total of software sold was about 47 million units.

The Nintendo 3DS, fortunately, was not highly affected by the Switch. People still felt interested in it, and made the company sell other few millions. However, the sales overall declined by 33% year-on-year.

Both Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon, launched in November 2017, were estimated in 7 million units sold.

Another console that was highly sold was the SNES Classic edition – which once was limited – and the Amiibo. Both sales improved while the time passed.

“Consumers not only continued to enjoy Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes, which became available for download during the previous fiscal year, but also had fun with Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, released globally during October and November,” Nintendo said.
