Microsoft unveiled on Wednesday a new Artificial Intelligence chatbot that has taken Twitter by storm, as it is a trending topic in the social media app, with the characteristic sarcastic personality, often found in millennials. Microsoft’s Research and Bing teams designed the new development announced by the computing giant company.

The chat bot will use its interactions in order to develop a better understanding of human conversation patterns, according to Microsoft’s programming engineers. The new AI chat bot is named Tay and was developed by the computing giant company Microsoft in an attempt an accurate communication like with a human being.

Amazingly enough, the Tay chat bot appears to have a better response program compared to old bots such as Cortana from Microsoft or Siri from Apple. The chat bot Tay has profiles on Twitter as well as in Kik and GroupMe, and users can simply communicate with Tay by tweeting the AI’s profile.

In a humorous plug in for the AI chat boy’s features, a similar way of speaking was added, making it sound like a teenager fascinated with the current digital slang. Although it sounds like a young person and can even be annoying sometimes, Tay shows much improvement in comparison with previous artificial intelligence technologies.

The new chat bot developed by researchers was based on relevant public data and also involved artificial intelligence tech, supported along with content including improvisational comedians, says Tay’s official documentation. Nevertheless, Tay differentiates from previous AIs by offering a more versatile chat bot that can distinguish between consequential discussions and plain simple nonsense.

Tay Tweets, the first AI with a twitter

“Tay is targeted at 18 to 24 year olds in the United States, the dominant users of mobile social chat services in the U.S.,” said a key phrase at the bottom of Tay’s website.

Tay is programmed not only to sound like a Millennial, but it also counts with algorithms that allow Microsoft’s chat bot to ‘improvise’ in accordance to the users’ commentaries. People have been testing the AI’s abilities and it has proven to give an eloquent, yet somewhat childish response. Tay even adds emojis according to the subject being discussed.

On a rather impressive new feature, users can even send pictures to Tay and it’s respond can even linger on the incredible as it can respond eloquently with text or create a meme from the image. However, only time will tell if Tay has what it takes to become the first AI to gain consciousness as well as the capacity of self-awareness.

According to Microsoft, Tay represents and fusion out of the ordinary as the new chat bot unveiled on Wednesday has an interesting personality. Yet, although the popularity of the new AI chat bot is currently on the rise, it’s adaptability as time goes by remains to be seen.
