The famous Harry Potter writer, J.K. Rowling, has announced on the Pottermore website her newest production that happens to be a prequel to their original piece. The novel tells the story of a Hogwarts-like school of magic located in North America and is available for Rowling followers and lovers of the Potter stories.
The prequel tells the story of a North American school of magic in the 17th century and located at the peak of a mountain called Mount Greylock. The school happens to be protected from non-magic gaze thanks to enhancements.
This novel is a part of Rowling’s new franchise “Fantastic Beasts and where to find them” that tells the story of the magical creatures that appear in the Harry Potter world. The name of the franchise comes from a text owned by Potter in the original novel.
Rowling published on Tuesday a new blog entry explaining the basics of this new universe, the houses that are part of the North-American magical school, and the characters of the story. This allows fans to learn and understand about this new novel written by Rowling.
The new universe
The story is about a little girl called Isolt Sayre who was born in 1603 in Ireland to a couple of pure-blood magicians that descend from powerful witches. When Isolt was five years old, her parents were murdered, and she was taken to her aunt, Gormlaith Gaunt.
It is revealed that Isolt’s aunt was, in fact, the responsible for the child’s death and turns out to be an evil magician that holds the child captive for 12 years until she escapes to North America, and steals her aunt’s wand that once belonged to Salazar Slytherin.
Rowling explains that the child arrives at magic mountains and meets a series of magical creatures, which remind the child of her ultimate dream of attending to Hogwarts.
Isolt becomes a great magician and ends up marrying an American muggle, with whom she makes a family and teaches her children the arts of magic in a little home school called Ivermorny which happens to be the name of the future American magic school.
The girl and her husband make wands for the children and start teaching young wizards from nearby villages, which then sets the pace for the new school.
Rowling presented the four houses in the school, different from the originals in Hogwarts, that go by the name of Horned Serpent, Wampus, Thunderbird, and Pukwudgie. They represent values and are related to each wizard’s personality.
This new novel will tell the story of the school, their students, their enemies, and all about this new universe. Fans of the Harry Potter universe have shared their excitement on social media, as they wait for the new movie of Fantastic Beasts and where to find them.
