Lady Gaga has been chosen to play the lead role in Bradley Cooper’s remake of the classic film, A Star Is Born. The film is yet another remake whose leading role was originally played by Judy Garland in 1954 then by Barbra Streisand in 1976.

It is about a Hollywood ingenue, Esther Blodgett, who falls in love with a troubled actor as his 15 seconds of fame are almost up. This will be Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, and he will also star alongside Gaga as the falling star with whom she is smitten. Gaga expressed her respect for the actor, calling him a “brilliant visionary” when she did not waste a second to tweet about her new exciting project. The film is said to be a ‘re-imaging’ of the original for which Gaga will write and perform new music.

New York City born and bred Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga has experienced her career take interesting paths since she first burst onto the scene with her debut studio album, The Fame, released in 2008. Although she is mostly known as a pop artist, she found herself going back to her love, jazz, with the advice and support from her mentor, music legend Tony Bennett. Since then, she has continued on her versatile journey not only as a singer and songwriter but a full blown artistic chameleon.

Lady Gaga on fire

The controversial, media attracting, creative, talented and, let’s face it, the weird artist has been making some fascinating career choices that have left fans hungry to see what else she may be cooking. She has come a long way since her first small-screen appearance as “Girl at Swimming Pool #2” in the very successful television drama, The Sopranos, then moved on to small roles in films such as Machete Kills (2013) and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014). Her biggest acting role to date was the ever-so composed, fabulous and deadly Countess in the fifth season of  Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s popular series American Horror Story, for which she won a Golden-Globe as best leading actress.

Gaga had reportedly said that she wanted to be an actress before she was aspiring to be a singer. It seems as though her ambitions and out-of-the-box mentality have paid off. Although she will always be remembered for her pop music career with hit songs such as “Born This Way”, “Poker Face”, “Bad Romance” and, of course, her first single “Just Dance”, Lady Gaga has shown Hollywood that she is a creative powerhouse unafraid to break new ground and swim in fresh waters. The star is soon set to release a single “Perfect Illusion” and a cookbook.

It would appear there is no stopping this powerhouse and six Grammy Award winner. May she continue to shock and surprise us all with her flare for art and life.
