Chucklefish Games has finally announced that Starbound will be launched soon. The video game developer has been working for four years in a big 1.0 update with gameplay improvements, a overhaul mechanics and content expansions that will take players to wondrous and exotic locations rendered in pixels. Now, on the official website of the game – and for the relief of Starbound players, it was announced that the sci-fi game will be available after finishing the update, which could be very soon.

“So Starbound’s next update is the big 1.0, and it’s getting close, so I wanted to update everyone on where things are and what to expect. Leaving Early Access doesn’t mean the end of updates for Starbound by any means, instead it will mark a shift away from engine work and towards additional content creation.” announced Finn “Tiy” Brice, the founder of indie game developer and publisher Chucklefish Games.

What are gamers going to find in the Starbound 1.0 update

The update will bring story content to the game: players must find many clues along the game world so they can unlock eight instanced missions. According to Bruce, the goal is to reward however players like to play. To accomplish that goal, the game includes several ways to find the clues, such as visiting towns to talk to locals, exploring dangerous dungeons or building colonies and completing quests.

Starbound will be full of interesting combinations and the planet generation will become more diverse with the removal of restrictions, on which biomes can be present on each planet. Also, the patch will have new weapons, dungeons, side quests, and more content for the players to explore, said Bruce.

The game starts with the player being sent to fulfill a mission as Protector right after the training graduation. The eight mission take place in exotic locations, and only by completing a set of quests the player will be able to unlock the main missions, but not without using the Starbound sandbox.

This update separates the story/mission progression, ship, colony, and armor progression. The difficulty of the missions will depend on the progression of the player, but gamers will still get to choose how to tackle weapons, items, and gears. What hasn’t change is that at the end of each mission a boss will be waiting for the player for a fight. By defeating the boss new characters will be unlock to help gamers advance in the game.
