What to expect for the 2016 VMA’s

Although no one knows what is going to happen during the live stream show, we are aware of the first performances, VMA nominees, and awards that will be taking place. So first is Rihanna’s award.

The Barbados’s singer has been honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which is also known as a Lifetime Achievement Award and it’s given to those artists who have made an impact on MTV, and it’s culture.

The first ever Lifetime Achievement Award was given to no other than David Bowie on 1984 and in the same year, The Beatles and Richard Lester were also honored with the recognition, which means the bar is set up high for those who win the award.

So many are wondering why Rihanna, who is only 28 years-old, is getting the LifeTime Achievement Award if her career seems to keep going. English explained to News Day that is not about the culmination of a career.

The executive producer informed that the award is about a body of work and the impact of an artist in the public. According to Engish, Rihanna’s impact has been massive and has made an influence in the music business.

The 28-year old artist announced her emotion and how honored she felt for receiving the award trough her Twitter account by thanking MTV and the VMA’s. The singer is also nominated for her most recent singles that include “Work”, “This is what you came for” and “Needed me”.

The princess of pop will be performing her latest single from her new album “Glory” and expectations are set high for the artist since she has had a long history with the awards.

Entertainment and gossip sites have been rumoring about a “controversial” show regarding the latest and most common topic in the country right now, which is politics. Given the upcoming presidential elections, English said to the News portal that the artists would give their opinion on the subject.

This year’s VMA’s will take place on Sunday, August 28th at eight p.m., other performances on the Madison Square Garden stage are The Chainsmokers along with Halsey, Arianna Grande with Nicki Minaj who will also perform, Nick Jonas, Alessia Cara, among others.
