Police officers are investigating a shooting at a motel in the city of Laurel, the happening left one deceased woman and an injured male. Witnesses of the event are encouraged to visit the Maryland City’s police department as any testimony could serve useful for officials involved in the case. 

Around 4:30 a.m Saturday, Howard County police officers received information about two victims in a nearby hotel located on Washington Boulevard. Officers arrived at Turf Motel, sending the woman to the hospital to attend her injuries and a man to a trauma center.

The unidentified woman later died in the Laurel Regional hospital, authorities are still investigating the happening meanwhile the man was shot in the leg and  was treated at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center since he had no life-threatening injuries.

Ongoing investigation

Howard County Police officers announced the shooting through their Twitter account at 6:05 a.m. on Saturday morning. 

Authorities closed Washington Boulevard to investigate the crime scene but opened it two hours later.

Preliminary investigations have lead police officers to believe the suspect might have known the two victims. Yet there hasn’t been a concrete identification of the suspect, officers are asking the public for information.

Howard County Police officers announced the happening on their social media accounts, responses on the happening were claiming a wider response to the shooting. In March, police officers were investigating a similar shooting at a truck stop, that left one male deceased and an injured 57-year-old man. Locals were alerted of a suspect wearing blue jeans and a jacket, while officers tracked him down.

The shooting happened around 1 p.m. at the truck stop, police officers said the suspect was confronting one of the victims about a domestic matter and ended up shooting both of them.

Further investigations, showed the deceased victim was44 year-old Chad Dewayne and the injured victim was originally from Baltimore. The suspect was a 52-year-old man called Jacinto del Prado who died of an apparent suicide.

Del Prado died after he was struck by a train in Lanham,  officials had reasons to believe he might have jumped in front of the vehicle for being a suspect in the ongoing case.
