“Kellyanne Conway has been a trusted advisor and strategist who played a crucial role in my victory,” Trump said in the statement. “She is a tireless and tenacious advocate of my agenda and has amazing insights on how to effectively communicate our message. I am pleased that she will be part of my senior team in the West Wing”.

Conway joins Trump in the White House

We are just a few weeks away until Inauguration Day, and Trump has almost completed all his cabinet. The last to join the group is Kellyanne Conway. This appointment could increase a little bit the diversity in Trump’s circle since it is mostly integrated by elderly white men.

Conway is known to be a strong woman. This could set up another potentially competing power center in the upcoming cabinet, which already counts with the presence of Reince Priebus as the chief of staff, Stephen Miller, the policy chief, and Stephen K. Bannon, who was announced as the chief strategist.

Conway had previously rejected other positions to the White House. She said that she didn’t want to spend so many hours away from her children. In the end, she accepted to become Trumps’ counselor. Her family is moving with her from New Jersey to Washington D.C., as she said on Fox News.

Who is Kellyanne Conway?

Conway was born in 1967 in New Jersey into a Catholic family. She is an American Republican campaign manager, strategist, and political commentator. Before entering politics, she pursued a career in law. She received her B.A magna cum laude in Political Science in 1989 from Trinity College, and she received a J.D with honors from the George Washington University Law School. Conway created the Polling Company Inc. /WomanTrend,  and she is currently its president and CEO. This company has advised GOP candidates for more than 20 years. She opposes abortion, and she is pro-immigration reform.

During the Republican presidential primaries, she endorsed Ted Cruz. Once he retired from the race, she became campaign manager for Donald Trump in August 2016.  With Trump’s victory on November, she became the first woman to ever lead a successful presidential campaign in the history of the United States. Conway is recognized for bringing professionalism and discipline to Trump’s campaign message. In the weeks that followed the elections, Kellyanne Conway was a pervasive presence on news networks.

Trump’s transition team said that Conway will certainly work with leadership to execute the priorities and actions of the new administration.

“I am humbled and honored to play a role in helping transform the movement he has led into a real agenda of action and results,” Conway said in a statement. “It is difficult to pass that up. I know I’ve got his ear and his trust”

Trump has only chosen wealthy people for his cabinet

Trump’s team is almost ready, and he has already received criticism for setting up a team that is only integrated by white, wealthy figures. Today, Conway defended Trump’s cabinet choices and administration picks. She said that Trump’s relationship with Wall Street is different from Hillary Clinton’s.

Conway has said that while Clinton is getting tens of millions of dollars in contributions for her foundation and speeches, even when she is sitting at the State Department, Trump is gathering some of the biggest talents of Wall Street to join him in the White House. These statements were made during an interview on ABC News’ Good Morning America.

During his campaign, Trump focused on America’s forgotten men and women. According to Conway, Trumps’ cabinet choices do reflect that message since the people who were picked are successful Americans who have created jobs. She also said that many of them represent true American success stories. For example, Trump’s pick for Treasury Secretary is Steen Mnuchin, who worked 17 years at Goldman Sachs before he decided to start his own investment firm, Dune Capital. He, alongside his partners, bought the failed IndyMac bank, they rebranded it as OneWest Bank and later it was sold for about 3.4 billion dollars.

Trump still has to pick who is going to be the press secretary. A possible option would be Sean Spicer, the former communications chief of the Republican Party, who also served as spokesman for Trump through the transition. Apparently, Trump is also considering women for the position, including talk radio star Laura Ingraham and Kimberly Guilfoyle, from Fox News.
