Henrik Pettersson did it! He has announced and released a new game named Crown & Council, and the best part it that this game is totally free of charge! This is a pleasant surprise for fans of the video games from Mojang Team.

Crown & Council was the side project created by only one man, Henrik Petterson, in the same way that Markus ‘Notch’ Persson developed Minecraft as a side project.

“Simple to play, but not quite so easy to win: do you spend all your cash on universities, hoping to survive long enough that your book-learning makes you unstoppable in the late game? Or do you go for a quick land-grab, hoping to put enough boots on the ground to give you an irreversible early advantage?” Mojang announced in the launching and promotion event.

Now, it will be interesting to see how it works. Will it be as successful as other strategy games? We’ll see later.

What is Crown & Council?

As Mojang said, this new game is very simple and easy to play but difficult to win. Is a fast-paced strategy game of geopolitical drama about conquering kingdoms, expanding and extending their lands, building forts, leading naval attacks defending the kingdom. It looks like an older and pixilated version of games such as Risk or Civilization. It has also cutesy 16-bit style of pixel art and MIDI sound effects.

Players must use gold as the digital monetary currency. This helps them build empires and move from one level to a more difficult one. Characters should destroy rival monarchs until all foes are crushed.

To the delight of his fans, this game includes 75 maps and, in addition, players can create their own map at all levels “on the fly”. It allows all players to have more and more fun.

How to get this strategy game?

The game is available on Steam and you can directly download it from there. It can run in any modern machine that has Windows 7 with 1 GB of RAM and at least 300 MB of available storage space.

It seems it is a very promising strategy game. Let’s play!
