The Xperia X Compact and the Xperia XZ are expected to be revealed by Sony at IFA Berlin, which is set to take place on September 1.

The estimated launch date for both products is September 24, as it was asserted by mobile tech tippers. Although there are no official specs about the new Sony Xperia products, rumors suggest that the Xperia XZ will feature a 23-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel frontal camera. The Sony Xperia XZ is expected to feature a fancy 5.2-inch curved glass display paired with 4GB RAM.

Brands bet on IFA Berlin for showcasing modernization

The Sony Xperia X Compact will have a smaller 4.6-inch screen and 3 GB RAM, but what has kept reviewers at the edge of their seat is that both models will probably have a USB Type-C port.

USB Type A port is the original rectangular-shaped port. These are the most common ports found in computers and consoles. Type B ports are usually found on peripheral devices such as printers and external hard drives.

Type C ports, on the other hand, are very small and allow reversible plug orientation. To date, it has been implemented on many mobile devices as a substitute to Type B, as it also allows bi-directional power, allowing the connector to charge the hosting gadget.

IFA Berlin, short for Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin, is one of the most important trade shows that feature consumer-level electronics. Sony will display its new TVs and 4K Blu-Ray player besides its new Xperia models.

The Xperia XR is expected to be Sony’s new Android flagship, whereas the Xperia X Compact will be a much more modest iteration for those that do not need a 23-megapixel camera.

But LG, one of Sony’s main competitors, is also looking forward to releasing new models at this year’s IFA. LG will display its new array of G Flex smartphones, all of which feature curved screens, whereas the larger one has a 5.5-inch screen adaptable with accessories.

Expectations are high for IFA’s participants, but Samsung is hyping people as they will unveil a new smartwatch and VR headset. It is the case of the Gear S3 and Gear VR, which are expected to work with one another, although there have been very few specifications regarding both products.

4K resolution will be the big star at IFA 2016, as it appears that most tech companies are following the course of higher-quality displays, which leads them to develop media players and TVs capable of reproducing the highest resolution of media available.

There is the new High Dynamic Range Ultra HD, also known as HDR, which apparently will be the state-of-the-art technology for TV broadcasting as 2016 comes to an end. This same technology will be featured on Blu-Ray players, which are now oftentimes sold with complete entertainment kits.

IFA 2016 will also feature an important amount of appliances and will display the latest consumer-level smart devices, such as smart washing machines, smart ovens, and other gadgets that can be managed through screens and computerized functions.
