The fast food chain wants to celebrate with their customers, the milestone that is opening their 100th location. The company has had a rapid acceptance in the burger industry, although it’s stock recently went down 5%.

Shake Shack’s evolution

The fast food industry is quite popular in the United States. Nonetheless, making an industry out of Shake Shack with the large fast food competition is not an easy job.

Shake Shak started in 2001, with a small hot dog cart near Madison Square Park in Manhattan as a way of supporting the Park’s Conservancy art installation. Little by little, the hot dog cart became a success in the location and even had fans lining up for three straight summers until it closed in 2003.

In the follow-up year, shack evolved to a kiosk inside the park, offering burgers, hot dogs, shakes, beers, wine, and desserts. Since then, the company emerged into a restaurant chain that has been well-accepted by the public and has a loyal fan base.

As of now, Shake Shak has 21 restaurants in New York and presence in over 15 states including Arizona, California, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Texas

“From our first-ever Shack in Madison Square twelve years ago, to so many incredible places, opening our 100th Shack at Boston Seaport is an epic milestone for us. We’re overwhelmed by the enthusiasm from our fans around the world,” said the company’s CEO Randy Garutti.

The restaurant chain offers burgers made without antibiotics or hormones with vegetables of choice including portobello mushrooms and their famous cheeseburger. Reviews on the business have assured their popularity is due to their gourmet burgers.

The menu also includes crinkle fries, at a moment the company changed it’s cooked potatoes to standard hand-cut fries, but the public didn’t react well to the modification. The milkshakes in the menu have become very popular, including the peanut butter and Nutella one.

Shake Shak also includes vegetarian-friendly options as well as a secret menu that includes bacon and peanut butter grilled cheeseburger. As of 2014 the company was worth almost $1 billion and is still expanding,  currently, there are Shake Shack restaurants in Moscow, Istanbul, London, and Tokio.
