Lil Wayne believes racism doesn’t exist

Comments made by famous US rapper, Lil Wayne, about the “Black Lives Matter” movement led to some disagreement and discontent from the people.

Lil Wayne is one of the most recognized celebrities in the rap world and American music in general. Other figures like Jay-Z and Pusha T, who are of colored skin as well, have been asked about their position regarding the racism present in the United States. They both have made clear statements saying that it is still an issue present nowadays and something must be done to change that.

People wanted to know Lil Wayne´s position too, so in an interview on September with UNDISPUTED on FS1, the conversation led to his personal experiences with racism. His response was not expected. Wayne, as reported by Twitchy, commented that he has never had an encounter with racism in his life. He believes this is a past issue.

He said that the fact that most of his fans where white people was a demonstration that racism is over. He thinks his music is not for black people or white people. It is for every type of people.

Black Lives Matter

On an interview with ABC’s Nightline, reported by Twitchy, Wayne was asked once again about the topic. He was asked about his opinion on the US racism situation and the “Black Lives Matter” movement. He seemed annoyed by this question. His answer was that he did not understand why they put a name to it. For him, it was just a man that got shot by a policeman for some crazy reason.

He put the example of the camera man filming him, saying he was white and he was black, stating that there was no problem whatsoever and that racism does not exist.

Of course, this led to jazzy comments on Twitter. People criticized him for his reasons to not support the movement. Other people actually were on his side and understood what he tried to communicate.

Later, the 34-year-old rap star apologized for his previous statements. He declared, as reported by Voice UK, that his comments came out of annoyance for the questions he was being asked. He apologized publicly to all the people who felt offended by what he said.

Rumors are saying he tried to block the ABC interview because he did not previously approve some of the questions of the interviewer. After this, he fired his publicists as well.
