Inferno: Hanks thinks the movie is a warning to America

Dan Brown’s book Inferno also has a film adaptation where professor Robert Langdon, played by Tom Hanks, will follow clues to try to stop the killing of half of the world’s population. Hanks and Felicity Jones worked together shooting the Inferno movie, and both have different interpretations of the project. For Hanks, the movie is a warning to Americans and the coming elections, and for Jones, her characters in Inferno and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story share a covert personality.

Inferno is about the idea of billionaire scientist Bertrand Zobrist, played by Ben Foster,  who has gone mad and plans to end wars, poverty, and famine by killing half of the human race.

For Hanks, the story in the movie and the idea of a simple plan to end complex problems is foreshadowing what could happen in the United States if Americans choose a think-alike leader. The film shows several symbols regarding Dante’s work and his beliefs of hell.

“Down through history there’s been an awful lot of people who say: Here’s what the problem is, here’s what it was caused by, and all you have to do is my suggestion, there’s an easy way in order to make it go away,” Hanks said, according to the Inquisitor.

The actor continued and explained that he thinks America needs a president with the ability to analyze the scopes of the country’s problems without letting prejudice interfere with the course of the nation.

Regarding the movie, Tom Hanks said the project would be as exciting for the audience as it was for him to shoot it. Hanks said he hopes that fans can be able to enjoy the movie and do not get caught on the seriousness it portrays.

Felicity Jones compared her roles in Inferno and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Felicity Jones plays Dr. Sienna Brooks and is the person that helps Professor Langdon to solve the mystery that created scientist Bertrand Zobrist. Jones role in the movie is similar to the former leading ladies in Down’s work. According to Felicity, there is much more to Dr. Brooks character than a pretty face.

The young actress compares her role in Inferno with her character in Rogue One. Jones believes that both characters seem to be concealing more about their personalities than they actually show.

Felicity Jones confessed she had different motivations when choosing each project. For Inferno, she said she was “drawn to the story.” She recognizes contemporary themes in the movie that made her want to be part of the project. Another reason that motivated her to film Inferno is that Jones wanted to work with director Ron Howard.

When choosing to work in the Star Wars franchise, Felicity said that to be part of the movie presented obvious perks, but added that her family has always been a fan of the movies and she was excited to play a role in the project.

Inferno opens in theaters on Friday, October 28.
