The Banner Saga is supported for PlayStation Vita, Sony announces

TOKIO – Sony announced it is partnering with indie publisher Versus Evil to help develop The Banner Saga for PlayStation Vita.

Gio Corsi, responsible for handling relations with independent developers, confirmed the news on Twitter. Gamers will be able to experience on their PS Vita the role-playing Viking saga and make the right decisions to save the entire civilization.

Even though Sony was still letting third-party developers work on its platform, it seemed like it was not going to be the same for the Vita.

Prior to the announcement, Sony had postponed the game for the portable system due to budget problems with the fairly small Stoic development team, which was initially supposed to complete the work of bringing the game to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita.

Most fans thought it would eventually be cancelled and the fact that the Japanese company decided to help developers of Stoic bring the acclaimed strategy game to the handheld console seems like a holiday gift. The firm will probably assume an important part of the cost and potential profit.

It looks like a dream

The epic role-playing game features hand-painted landscapes that represent a world where twilight seems to last forever. Cities and towns start getting chaotic as heroes leave their hearths, heading to the countryside to gain allies to help fight a threat they have never even heard of before.

Even the simplest decision has consequences, which is why the choices must be made carefully by discussing them with potential allies. There’s where strategy becomes a key word and then leads to hand-animated battle sequences. With a combination of art and story, the saga brings an exciting classic adventure for gamers.

Aside from “The Banner Saga”, the third-party developers have also worked on “Ultra Street Fighter IV” and “Borderlands: The Handsome Collection”. The release date of the Viking saga for the Vita has not been revealed. Corsi didn’t give any more details but he said that in 2016 more news of “The Banner Saga” would be made public. The game is for now only available for PC and gamers will be able to experience it on PS4 and Xbox One on Jan. 12, 2016.
