The Walking Dead: mid-season premiere impresses millions of fans

The Walking Dead midseason premiere astonished millions of fans, who witnessed on Sunday how the life of the residents of Alexandria went through a devastating situation. More than 19 million people, just in the United States, have already watched each episode of the season 6.

According to Twitter, the new winter episode could be presented as magnificent and well filmed. “No way out” continued exactly where “First Time Again” ended four months ago, when Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham had been caught by Negon’s crew.

Spoilers ahead: among the highlights of the night, walkers ate the 10-years-old boy Sam and his mom. Michonne stabbed Ron with her furious katana. Rick was almost shot by Ron but Carl was shot in his right eye, and finally everyone added more action to the scenes by killing some zombies while father and son ran for medical help.

“What we’ve done in the first half of the season is show, yes, it’s a larger world and there are a lot of threats out there — we had the Wolves and the walkers — and there are a lot of unknowns out there.” Director Greg Nicotero told the Hollywood Reporter,

The scene that caused most revolt was definitely when Carl was shot in the eye. According to Gregory Nicore, special makeup effects creator at The Walking Dead, the team wanted to follow the graphic novel that made special emphasis in the way that Carl was wounded.

Chandler Riggs, who interprets Carl, said on the social media that when he appeared to be running through the field, a mannequin was used. The 16-years-old actor describes the moment as “funny” since he just needed to wear a prosthetic eye that took 30 minutes to install.

The Walking Dead comic creator, Robert Kirkman, said to EW that it was great to see how the episode turned out. He described the Carl’s scene as “awesome, startling and heartbreaking”, which are the feelings that he wanted to transmit with the comic.

Andrew Lincoln, who is recognized for his portrayal of Rick Grimes, talked to Variety about the mid-season premiere. He stressed that what happened to Carl will definitely mark a very interesting point in their relationship and that a very interesting psychological battleground will take place in the next “muddy, deep, dark” episodes.

According to Lincoln, the next episode titled “The Next World” will be the most fun episode of the TV show since Daryl and Rick will be reunited and survivors will not be the only ones after a goldmine of supplies, said the AMC preview.
