The Voice Behind the Famous Line ‘It’s a trap!’ Passed Away

Erik Bauersfeld, the voice behind Star War’s Admiral Ackbar, and also intergalactic crime boss Jabba the Hutt’s staffer Bib Fortuna, died at the age of 93, because of natural causes on Sunday morning, April 3rd.

According to what Derek Maki, his manager, said to PEOPLE, the actor passes away at his house in Berkeley, California.

Bauersfeld most influential projects were his voices in Star Wars, as Admiral Ackbar and Bib Fortuna, in 1983 Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi, and last year Star Wars: The Force Awakens, just as the Admiral.

In addition to the jobs already mentioned, the actor also worked with great directors like Guillermo del Toro, doing voices for Crimson Peak, and Steven Spielberg, being the voice behind Gardener in A.I.: Artificial Intelligence.

The actor who delivered the famous line “It’s a trap!”, also led the radio station KPFA’s drama and literature department for 31 years. This radio station is located in Berkely, California, where Bauerfeld lived, and it broadcasts in the San Francisco Bay Area. Bauersfeld was one of the most respected radio dramatists in the country.
