Vladimir Putin says Artificial Intelligence is the future of mankind

Russian president Vladimir Putin said that the country who leads artificial intelligence would rule the world. He told Russian students that artificial intelligence is the future of humanity.

He also said that it would be wise to prevent a monopoly on the field of AI. As well, the president considered that further sanctions on North Korea over its nuclear program could be counterproductive and that President Donald Trump should put an end to his belligerent rhetoric.

“Artificial intelligence is the future not only of Russia but of all of the mankind,” said Putin. “There are huge opportunities, but also threats that are difficult to foresee today,” Said Vladimir Putin.

Russia will share its technology if it becomes the leader of artificial intelligence

On the first day of school in Russia, President Putin gave a televised speech in the city of Yaroslavl, northeast of Moscow, to more than one million students where they were able to learn from the president himself who is going to rule the world. Putin said that the country that masters the technology in the field of artificial intelligence is going to be the most powerful one. This backs up what scientists from Russia and other parts of the world have said lately.

“Whoever becomes the leader in this sphere will become the ruler of the world,” he said, adding that it would be better to prevent any particular “pair of hands” from achieving a monopoly in the field.

He stated that AI is important for Russia and the entire world. Therefore, such powerful tool cannot be monopolized because it could be dangerous. However, if Russia were to be the leader of artificial intelligence, Putin said that it would share that technology with the world  just like Russia does now with atomic and nuclear technology. The televised speech was called “Russia Focused on the Future,” according to the Kremlin.

Russian keeps on developing its military force

The participants of this open lesson also were able to watch and learn about large-scale innovative projects. Among these projects were the development of a new generation of nuclear-powered icebreakers and a heavy-class space launch center. As well, Russia has been working on the development of drones and vehicles. The Russian military, one of the biggest and most powerful in the world, is also developing robots, anti-drone systems, and cruise missiles.

During the televised open lesson, Putin also showed off his performance playing hockey while he visited a new school where he greeted the children’s hockey team.

Putin is preparing to assist to next week’s summit of the BRICS, which is a group integrated by Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa. The meeting will be in China. However, according to the Kremlin, Putin is not planning to assist to this year’s General Assembly of the United Nations.

Putin said that there could be a large-scale conflict between the U.S. and North Korea

Vladimir Putin offered his view on the increasing tensions between the White House and Pyongyang. He said that the dispute in the Korean Peninsula could lead to a large-scale conflict between those actors.

“I have to say a few words about the situation on the Korean Peninsula, where tensions have grown recently and the situation is balancing on the brink of a large-scale conflict,” expressed Putin in a statement published on the Kremlin’s website on Friday

According to Putin, thinking and pressuring North Korea solely to make it stop its missile program is “misguided and futile.” The Russian president also considered that President Donald Trump should start a serious dialogue with Pyongyang instead of continuing with its violent and aggressive rhetoric because it leads nowhere. As well, Vladimir Putin warned the U.S. government that imposing stricter sanctions on North Korea could be “counterproductive and dangerous.”

However, this comes after Russia voted, along with the rest of the U.N Security Council to impose new and stronger sanction on North Korea, following the launch of two missile test back in July. The tested rocket was an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

“The region’s problems should only be settled through a direct dialogue of all the parties concerned without any preconditions. Provocations, pressure and militarist and insulting rhetoric are a dead-end road,” the Russian president wrote.

This statement could refer to those made by Trump where he said that the threats from Pyongyang about a possible attack on the U.S territory of Guam would be met with “fire and fury.”

Moscow’s position regarding the Korean Peninsula and North Korea’s missile threats is similar to China’s, who also supported the sanctions on North Korea. However, Putin hasn’t made as much of an effort to pressure Pyongyang as Trump would have liked. China along Russia has called for moderation on the matter, and they oppose to the U.S. carrying out joint military drills in South Korea.
