Video: ‘The Daily Show’ host Jon Stewart Can’t Joke After Charleston Shooting

“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart said he was in no mood for any jokes after the Charleston Shooting, which killed nine people on Wednesday.

Stewart began the show with, “I have one job, and it’s a pretty simple job, I come in the morning and we look at the news, and I write jokes about it.

“But I didn’t do my job today. So I apologize. I got nothing for you … because of what happened in South Carolina.”

He continued, ““But I didn’t do my job today, so I apologize. I got nothing for you in terms of jokes and sounds, because of what happened in South Carolina.

Stewart did not crack any jokes on the show, instead interviewed 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.

During the show, he said, “I don’t think there’s anyone else in the world I’d rather talk to tonight.

“In South Carolina, the roads that black people drive on are named for Confederate generals who fought to keep black people from being able to drive freely on that road.” he said.
