Uber releases new Family Profiles feature

On Wednesday, the ride-hailing company giant Uber launched its new feature that allows users to get a family account. The new feature called Family Profiles is set to accommodate to a family’s needs when it comes to app-based car services like Uber and Lyft.

Now, the Family Profiles feature allows an entire family to share one account, this results useful considering any member can pay for rides using the new Uber’s app trait, instead of paying with their own credit card.

This new attribute will work by letting the person paying for everybody send invites to the people they want to add to the family plan. After that, the person responsible for paying for all those rides will be billed directly by the organizer, which in turn will receive a receipt for every ride taken by people in the family plan.

The Family Profiles functionality introduced by Uber will let users switch between their personal and family accounts with ease. This could be useful for parents with busy schedules that want their children to have an easy and safe ride.

And thanks to Family Profiles, parents can relax knowing they can pay for their kid’s ride without having to give the money to them or having to pay the driver on its arrival. Even when the child wouldn’t have to use money at any time, it would be required to have a smartphone with Uber’s app installed. Nevertheless, this option released by Uber is not only aimed to families, as it can be used by groups of friends or even companies.

A boss who wants to provide their employees with a safe and secure way of traveling to, or from work, can invite them to a family plan in order to give employees free ride-hailing services. Free because their employer would take responsibility for the billing from Uber, as a generous boss.

Adults can also use the app’s features with elderly parents who still want to be independent and refuse to make their adult sons or daughters drive them. It only takes a moment to install the Uber app in their smartphones and invite them to join the Family Profiles and adults with elderly parents can relax knowing their parents can get anywhere safe, and without worrying about payments.
