The innovation was announced by Hao Tang a safety engineer of the platform, throughout a blog spot, the social media  explained their compromise to user safety.

“We want everyone on Twitter to feel safe expressing themselves,” reads the published statement by Tang.

140 characters bully-free

Previously to complain about harassment in the social media, users had to report a single tweet in which the complaint has justified making it a little more difficult for the safety team and the users to obtain what they wanted, safety.

Twitter users are now able to attach all of the tweets in where the harassment is shown, making the safety team’s work function in a better way.

With multiple tweets, the team can gather even more information about an abuse, investigate the fact and provide users with more safety and a bully-free platform

“Safety continues to be a top priority at Twitter. We have more improvements upcoming that will give you, even more, control over your experience and look forward to sharing those updates soon,” said the statement published by the website on their blog.

Optimization in user safety

In previous statements Twitter CEO, Dick Costolo admitted on Twitter’s internal forums that they “sucked at dealing with abuse and trolls on the platform” assuring they have “sucked” at it for years.

The memo was leaked to the press after and it has been rumored it was a response to a Twitter employee who commented on social media trolls and bullies. Costolo wrote his concern on dealing with such a delicate matter and admitted his fault in the case.

After the leaked memo Costolo reassured his commitment to fighting sexual and violent harassment on Twitter and he did, in February Twitter formed a Trust & Safety Council that assured its users the safety on the site.

The council evaluated all of the reported tweets and assures its 320 users a more guarded environment. The social media also expanded their violent threats policy and prohibited troll behavior.

The multiple-report-tool is available for both iOS and Android users as well for the online site, the company expects the optimization to be available in the upcoming weeks.
