People now can buy cookies from girl scouts even without getting off the computer. The online sales platform Digital Cookie 2.0 allows scouts to accept orders and send cookies to a customer anywhere in the U.S. However, it didn’t stop nine-year-old Stormi from getting bullied for being a transgender, when a man commented, “Nobody wants to buy cookies from a boy in a dress.”
Now, although Stormi was hurt by this kind of insults, stating that “It made her sad, because she’s a girl,” according to a Buzz Feed News interview, she didn’t give up. With the Girl Scout’s help and collaboration, Stormi opened an online cookie sale portal of her own.
Stormi was motivated to fight back against negative comments and discrimination thanks to the support given to her nationwide, said Stormi’s foster mother Kim, in a Buzz Feed interview.
“This is something I have been trying to instill in her for years,” Kim said. “How worthy she is; who she is is okay. For her to be able to read all these messages that people are sending from around the world to support her, the love is just overwhelming.”
Amazingly she has received support from all over the world, giving her a profitable business by selling a huge variety of cookies online. In spite of this, Stormi is not only focused on expanding her sale numbers, but also giving back to the community.
With more than 3,000 boxes of cookies sold nationwide, Stormi plans to donate Girl Scout cookies to foster homes, as she comes from one herself. The negative comments on Stormi for being a transgender girl only rocketed her sales and positioned her on a trending status.
Fairly enough, she even received support from two New York comedians, who offered free admission to one of their performances for anyone provided they’d purchase Stormi’s cookies.
“My troop plans to use the money to help us go on trips. I have my own plans as well. At my request my family will donate boxes to local foster kids like me,” she says. “Selling cookies is a lot of work. I have learned that even though people can be mean I shouldn’t give up.”
After Stormi’s venture ended over the weekend, it’s important to realize how transgender girl scouts have struggled to gain acceptance in the past. Hopefully, Stormi will be the first of many children to be accepted in the Scouts without any race, gender or sexuality discrimination.

The other night I bluntly told the Girl Scouts -No- they were trying to sell cookies outside a local grocery. There may have been a number of transgender shoppers following me out of the store who were willing to buy hundreds of dollars worth, that would be about 40 cookies per hundred dollars. Greedy little things, those Girl Scouts.
Is a nine year old mature enough to make such a decision, one that will have such lasting impact? I think not.
