Stranger Things, the Netflix original series that gained the approval of the audience and film community on its first season, is now a beacon for excitement after Netflix just released the trailer for its second season.

The cast and creators met the fans at the Hall H in San Diego’s Comic-Con. The series just received 18 Emmy nominations and is now promising a new season full of surprises that will be streaming on October 27th

“What would be the ultimate long movie — Spielberg directing a big, fat Stephen King book. That was the dream, that was the ambition (…) We wanted it to look like one of those Stephen King books that we devoured.” said Russ Duffer.

The co-creators and brothers Matt and Ross Duffer promise darker and “bigger season.” They also talked with the public about the creative process of the earliest stages of the show.

The cast interview about the upcoming season.

The cast carefully chose talking topics with the audience. Millie Bobby Brown, who recently became an Emmy nominee for Best Supporting Actress, discussed with the fans about her character. She said it is hard to play Eleven, especially because her script was very short and she had to reflect everything with her gestures.

“It gets easier when you feel more comfortable with your character. The first two episodes — I just fell in love with Eleven and Eleven was me. The only thing that was hard was crying. I feel like I’m a happy person so that when I’m crying I would need five minutes to get in the zone. It’s hard to keep a straight face with teen boys, because they play pranks and tell a lot of jokes when I’m doing an emotional scene.” she said.

Shannon Purser, who plays Barb in Season 1, stated that she will be avenged but that she won’t be back. As for David Harbour (Sheriff Jim Hooper), who is also nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, revealed that his character will be making a shift and that he will suffer a transformation from being “a jerk” to be a hero.

“There is a psychology of a heroic action and whether or not [a person] can live up to that in their daily life… there are perils of a savior complex.” he said

The 12-year-old actor Noah Schnapp, who plays Will, let us know that his character will not be “normal” again. Despite being found and resuscitated, he will be affected by The Upside Down (an alternate dimension).

“Will shows more bravery and you’ll definitely learn how the Upside Down affected Will and you’ll get more into his story line”. He shared with the Comic-con fans.

What will change and what will remain.

A new character will come to town: Max, interpreted by Sadie Sink. Although not much is known about this new character, the boys seem to be enchanted by her, as she seems to be different from other girls. She is a skater who just moved from California and has a scary brother.

Will Byers will be treated differently because of what happened to him in season one. He will be overprotected by his mother and affected. The trailer shows him having a vision while he and the gang are playing Dragon’s Lair. Things won’t be the same, and he will be haunted by what he witnessed.

Eleven will be coming back. The trailer shows her alive, and more information about her past will be revealed in this season. She seems to manage to escape the Upside Down at the end of the teaser.

The love triangle consisting of Nancy, Jonathan and Steve may continue in season 2, and the kids will wear Ghostbuster costumes for Halloween. It seems that the 1980’s vibe will still be a fan pleaser and lots of references such as the Gremlins, Indiana Jones and Dungeons and Dragons will keep the retro fans satisfied.

Sheriff Jim Hooper (David Harbour) will be an essential character in this season, as his involvement with the bad-guys becomes clearer. Additionally, the audience will get to know his daughter’s story, as in season one her Teddy bear in the Upside Down suggests that she might not have died from cancer. In a scene from season 1, she appears scared with her parents in the woods.

Harbour also shared little information about the spider creature that appears in the trailer

“There is this entity that we kind of reveal that exists in this world. People have been speculating whether or not it has to do with the Thessylhydra we talked about at the end of last season or what it really is but that’s just interesting to me in terms of the lore of D&D because the Demogorgon in Dungeons & Dragons is like a devil right? Like he’s a demon. So you have other ranks of demons…” he said

Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Giant Spider Monsters, Ghostbusters and more will be streaming on Netflix on October 27th. All the episodes of Stranger Things will be available instantaneously.
