Samsung Electronics expands with headquarters at Silicon Valley

U.S. – On Thursday, Samsung Electronics officially inaugurated its new “Device Solutions America Headquarters” for its U.S. semiconductor operations in Silicon Valley, with innovating offices and a unique design. The property is located just a few miles away from one of its most prominent competitors: Apple.

The new facility counts with large gardens and many outdoors areas within the building. Samsung Electronics wanted to construct a more pleasant environment for the staff.  In addition, the Device Solutions America Headquarters is the biggest investment of the technological company at Silicon Valley.

“We are transforming Samsung into a world-class example of a truly market-focused technology company. Laying the groundwork for a more aggressive pace of growth over the next several decades.” reportedly said Oh-Hyun Kwon, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics.

The objectives

The new 1.1-million-square-foot-building have several research laboratories dedicated to semiconductors, LEDs and displays, and many other relevant areas. The establishment will be the home for 2,000 employees, which will vary among Samsung’s American Research and Development (R&D) and its local staff in sales.

Samsung’s semiconductor operations have been targeting innovation for a long period now. With the new complex, the company will be able to improve significantly. “Innovation and advanced technologies for next-generation devices generated at the new facility will help make an even greater contribution to providing the critical competitive advantage that the company’s U.S. and global customers seek.” Samsung reports.

Samsung Electronic’s CSR programs

What’s more, the company announced their initiatives for the corporate social responsibility (CSR), that is rightful to Samsung. They will support the Silicon Valley community, by donating $100,000 to the Family Giving Tree and another $100,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Furthermore, the corporation also assigned a $1 million to the academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) College Education Scholarship Fund as a way of celebrating its latest achievement with the Device Solutions Headquarters. Each scholarships will cover tuition and living expenses for university students who joined any of the  STEM-focused programs at a California State or University of California school in a period of one year.

Therefore, Samsung’s CSR programs are focused on backing the local community and encouraging with relevant help in order to inspire the upcoming generation of innovators with volunteer staff support and corporate donations.
