The smartphone battle continues as Samsung and Apple announce the upcoming release date of their popular and long-awaited new devices. Galaxy Note 7 is expected for August 2 while its Apple rival on the market, the iPhone 7, is expected to hit stores by the second week of September this year.

While customers are counting the days until the release dates, enormous speculations have been going on about what the technology companies will introduce new features and improvement into what could be the best smartphones of 2016: Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 and Apple’s iPhone 7.

An ongoing technological battle

There is no need to be a geek to know that Samsung and Apple have had a rivalry over the years over the position in the market and the design of their smartphones and tablet computers, a competition that reached the Supreme Court when Apple sued Samsung over smartphone patent infringement. Their battle continued in courts of ten different countries.  But the smartphone wars are held too in the designing labs of the companies and the market, testing what the people’s response is.

This competition is mainly perceived between the Samsung Galaxy series and Apple’s iPhone devices. Apple has been the biggest seller worldwide in the mobile market. However, as the same company predicted, fewer iPhone units were sold in 2016 compared to the past year. This is the first time that the multinational corporation, founded by Steve Jobs, have negative records since the first generation of iPhones arrives at worldwide stores back in 2007.

On the other hand, the Korean technology company has improved its financial figures in the last months. While Samsung continues to perceive successes, both companies have announced the upcoming release of their new mobile generations, the iPhone 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which means the battle might get kind of interesting.

A not so innovative iPhone 7

With the “7” next to iPhone, Apple fans are expecting a whole new generation in stores. But customers might just find themselves a little disappointed since market analysts think Apple is saving the most innovative features they have for iPhone 8, probably in stores by early 2017.

Nevertheless, the iPhone 7 owners will likely experience some great changes too. It is reported that the iPhone 7 will feature a significantly improved professional class water resistance. This moisture resistance is aimed to satisfy the demands of average phone users, making the phone more practical in wet conditions. Other features include an improved camera and audio quality and a new home button. Apparently, iPhone 7 will also be available in new colors to attract consumers.

It probably will be a slimmer iPhone version, continuing the attempts of Apple of reducing the size of the iconic smartphones. However, no significant redesign appears to be introduced. Rumor has it that Apple will be eliminating the usual 3.5mm headphone jack, replacing it with audio provided via the Lightning connector and Bluetooth headphones. The rumors about the headphone jack elimination as iPhone 7 are released, have generated a debate in the social media since iPhone lovers who pledged Apple to maintain the well-known feature.

A defiant Galaxy Note 7

Samsung Galaxy phones first hit stores in 2007. Tough some say Samsung has been in a little bit of a rush to release the Galaxy Note 7 generation on August 2 to overtake the Apple smartphone’ release, it was reported there is significant improvement included in the new Samsung product.

According to a leak from the Chinese social media, there will be two different models of it, as the phablet is awaited later this year. Apparently, it will include at least 4 GB RAM; although some dare to say Galaxy Note, seven will be having a 6 GB of RAM to ensure it runs fast. This will be combined with an incredibly powerful Exynos or Snapdragon processor, which will depend on the place the phone is to be sold.

Analysts say Galaxy Note 7 will also be available in 3 colors, including the standard black version, a bright blue and a silver version. Other futures will include a sleek all-glass design, a 4 K resolution screen, and an iris scanner, to improve the security of the phone. Its measures are expected to be 153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9mm. Regarding the camera, it probably will have the same camera as the Galaxy S7 edge; that being the case, Galaxy Note 7 will feature a 12-megapixel rear snapper alongside a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, which has delivered incredible results among users.

Galaxy lovers will be thrilled to know that Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to reducing the charging time of the battery, which is expected to charge 50% usage in just 20 minutes. Unlike iPhone 7 the headphone jack remains in the design. A flat-screen and curve multicolor Galaxy Note 7 will truly be a rival to the iconic new version of iPhone.
