Pokémon Go launches ‘Worldwide Bloom’ event

The famous game Pokémon Go has just released an event called “Worldwide Bloom” which will allow players to find more grass-type Pokémons. The event will last until May 8, which means that players won’t have a lot of time to take advantage of this new event.

This would be a great opportunity for players to find some Pokémons such as Bulbasaur, Weepinbell, Bellossom and others that are grass-type creatures in the game. However, Niantic Labs, which are the ones developing the game,  announced that no candy bonuses will be included this time.

Players all over the world will be able to catch more grass-type Pokemon

After almost one year since Pokémon Go was released, millions around the world have engaged in this location-based augmented reality game. In a short time, Pokémon Go became one of the most downloaded and profitable mobile apps of 2016. A lot of great reviews have come up since its release; however, some have criticized technical issues and some security problems generated by the game worldwide too. Regardless of the last, the game continues to be popular, especially because Niantic continues to integrate innovative ways to keep users interested.

This time, the last update include the so-called “Worldwide Bloom” event. This is a small event launched by the company to allow users to catch more grass-type Pokémon. All over the world players will see an increase in spawn rates of this type of Pokémon.

Pokémons such as Jumpluff, Hoppip, Sunkern, Bulbasaur, Weepinbell, Bellossom, and Sunflora will be seen more often. Both first and second generation Pokémon can also appear with the update.

All the other aspects of Pokémon Go will remain the same

Niantic cleared that nothing else will be changed in the game during this Worldwide Bloom event. The number of grass-type Pokémons available in the wild will increase, but everything else won’t be affected. For example, no XP or candy bonuses will be included. The small event won’t have changes in the gameplay either.

Players will have until May 8 to play with this event and find as many grass-type Pokémon as it is possible. This event is particularly short since Niantic events are usually launched for longer periods. Generally, they run for a week at least. The company also highlighted that this event doesn’t respond to a particular holiday or a special date, as they usually do.

Niantic promised a big and innovative update for the game this summer

Some experts suggest that the developers might have launched this event to test the possibility of having more monthly micro events in the future, at the same time as they run macro events for the game too. This being the case, then the micro and macro events will replace the holiday-inspired events. Therefore, Niantic might have something big prepared for this month, or maybe something even bigger for the next month.

Maybe all these innovations have something to do with the upcoming update promised by the developers for this summer. Niantic has confirmed they have been working on a revolutionary update that will change the popular game in many ways. This update will improve and create new gyms. Additionally, it will add Legendary Pokémons.

Niantic and Knight Foundation join to encourage people to know their cities through Pokémon Go

Niantic has another micro event going on. They want to animate users to go out for a walk to discover new places in their cities. The event will start on May 7 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Gamers had to search for Pokéstops and gyms that will be physically marked along a set route. That way, they will be able to find some Pokémons.

This event was the result of a joint initiative between Niantic and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, which is a national organization that promoted civic engagement, for a community-based initiative.

The foundation expects this initiative to engage people throughout the United States with the help of games such as Pokémon Go and Ingress. They want to use the technology provided by augmented reality (AR) experiences to promote public engagement and make people feel pushed to know their cities.

The foundation highlighted its Open Streets Happenings as a part of their initiative. It has already worked with Niantic before in this type of activities in parks, libraries and other public places.

They planned to start new collaborations commencing with this Open Streets 704 event in Charlotte, North Carolina. The players will use Pokémon go to follow a 2.5-mile route with 16 Poke Stops and two Poke Gyms. According to  Niantic Chief Executive Officer John Hanke, the whole thing was initially planned with the ambition of generating community change; therefore their partnership with the Knight Foundation is a natural extension of that endeavor. It was reported that the initiative is set to last at least one year. They hope they can extend that period in the future, considering the feedback of the activity, they are about to receive.
