Miley Cyrus featuring in Woody Allen’s Amazon TV series

Miley Cyrus will appear on Woody Allen’s latest work “Crisis in Six Scenes,” featuring himself and Elaine May, an unsuspecting couple living in the 1960’s which will have to accommodate Miley’s character.

Crisis in Six Scenes will premiere on Amazon Video on September 30. The domestic comedy was written by Allen, and it will feature Joy Behar, Rachel Brosnahan, and others.

Woody Allen had signed a contract with Amazon Studios to develop a TV series in January 2015. Crisis in Six Scenes was the result, and at the time, Allen had expressed his disbelief on what he was trying to accomplish.

“I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this,” the acclaimed director stated.

Woody Allen’s latest work was “Cafe Society,” a movie featuring Kristen Stewart and Blake Lively. With an apparent experience working with young stars, it appears that Miley Cyrus is the perfect candidate for starring a mainstream TV series to be premiered on Amazon TV, one of the main competitors in the media streaming business.

Miley first confirmed her attendance on Woody Allen’s six-part comedy on Instagram. It will be the first series directed by Allen, which at first was known as the Untitled Woody Allen Project.

Amazon Studios vice president Roy Price had expressed his high expectations on working with Woody Allen, who is credited to be one of the most innovative and heartfelt movie directors of our time.

“Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year,” Price announced in a statement.

Hannah Montana in the 1960’s

At first, Allen knew little about Miley Cyrus, but he saw his children watching Hannah Montana and asked himself who that girl was. Allen instantly noticed how Cyrus delivered her lines and managed to keep audiences pepped up with her enthusiastic presence. After that, the director saw scenes of her performing on Saturday Night Live and confirmed his expectations of Miley Cyrus’ great talent. Woody Allen contacted Miley, and she accepted to do the part, although she did say that she needed some time off the public view.

Woody Allen addressed the significance of working in TV, as it has continually evolved and now it is an entirely new landscape compared to when the director first started making movies. He confessed that he may “prove to be an embarrassment,” but that his objective was not totally to embarrass himself, just only enough.

Crisis in Six Scenes will have Miley Cyrus, a blond hippie girl, disrupt the lives of a sheltered conservative couple in the sixties, where black rights and the Vietnam War were what kept Americans on the edge of their seat. Miley will change Allen and May’s views in an unprecedented manner, always keeping the charm and awkwardness that characterizes the works of Woody Allen, only that now it will be on a six-episode-long mainstream TV series.
