Jimmy Kimmel to host the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards

Jimmy Kimmel will host the 68th Emmy Awards that will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 18. The American TV host and producer said on Tuesday that he has a great feeling towards the next Emmy event.

The current host and producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been described as the “consummate showman” by Channing Dungey, president at ABC Entertainment. His TV show is the ABC’s longest-running late-night talk show and it has earned five Emmy nominations over the years.

“With Kimmel at the helm, expect to be at the edge of your seat for a bigger, bolder, and better-than-ever Emmy event,” she said in Emmy’s press release published Tuesday.

Mr. Kimmel had previously hosted the Emmy Awards in 2012. Creative Arts Emmy Awards will take place during September 10 and 11 at the Microsoft Theater under the production of Bob Bain, according to an Academy’s statement.

Nominations for the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced by the Television Academy on July 14 morning. Last year, HBO’s Game of Thrones became the first show to win the most Emmys in just one night, while Ms. Viola Davis became the first black woman to win an award for the “lead actress in drama” category.

With Jimmy Kimmel hosting the 2016 Emmy Awards, TV lovers could expect a show full of political jokes. According to entertainment reporter Kelly Lawler, in 2012, he made a very funny monolog called “Mitt Romney and the 40 Republicans”, which won the laughs of its very-famous audience.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences: encouraging excellence among a million dollar business

Founded in 1946, the organization “seeks to expand the horizons of television excellence”, empowering thousands of creatives, directors, actors and people interested in recording and sharing their stories.

That being said, the Emmy Awards are also a huge business for advertisers. According to awards-season expert Tom O’Neil, Hollywood spends between $30 to 40 million every year competing for Emmys, making campaigns for series that cost as much as $500,000. Curiously, winners must pay $400 if they want to carry their statue to home.
