Bank robberies in New Jersey

Late March, two men and a woman stole a BB&T bank branch in New Jersey. West Deptford Police said the group entered the bank at 11 a.m. using handguns. They requested three employees to get them into a room, where the bank vault was located. No one was injured, said NewJersey.com.

During the same month, police officers were searching for a man suspected of robbing at least seven banks in New Jersey. He is recognized as the “Count Down Bandit,” said Reuters.

The Count Down Bandit is reported to approach tellers and ask them for money, while he begins counting down from 10 or 15, said Timothy Gallagher, head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Newark office.

The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for people who can provide data about the suspect, who started robbing banks in July last year. Pictures of the suspect can be found at Bandittrackernortheast.com.

‘Aggravated Assault on Police’

The Willingboro Police Department said Monday morning that a man driving a car in reverse hit two police officers on Saturday. The event occurred while the police were chasing a suspect, who was carrying a firearm in his car.

Officers tried to stop the driver, but “he put the vehicle into reverse and began to back up striking two officers,” said the department. The man was arrested after a motor vehicle pursuit. Police recovered a .22cal handgun and a .40cal semi-automatic.

The suspect has been charged with “Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer”, “Unlawful Possession of a Weapon” and “Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition,” said police through Facebook.
