Elton John offers a surprise concert with Lady Gaga as a guest

Elton John performed a surprise concert on Saturday afternoon at a legendary music site in West Hollywood. Adding to the many surprises of the day, there was an unknown guest that turned out to be the oscar-nominated, Lady Gaga.

The concert was live-streamed on AOL.com from the parking lot of the former Tower Records building, a popular landmark on the Sunset Trip for decades. At the moment, Gibson Guitars owns the place and the record store’s sign was recently repainted amid the release of a Colin Hanks’ documentary, as reported by E News.

The pop superstar is currently recording tracks for her next album, the follow-up to her 2013 release Artpop, and has already hit the studio with Mark Ronson to produce a collaboration. Credits: New Generation Radio

Apparently the spontaneous concert was John’s husband idea, according to People Magazine. He said that it was a way of giving back to the city of West Hollywood, who had been amazing to the couple, he added.

Referring to the location, John said that it was the perfect place to do it, due to the so many wonderful memories the location holds. When music was so wonderful, vibrant and important, he added.

The awarded singers performed together Elton John’s 1974 hit “Do Not Let the Sun Go Down on Me” as Elton dedicated the concert to the city and thanked for their support of the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

“The City of West Hollywood has welcomed the Elton John AIDS Foundation and our annual Academy Awards Viewing Party with open arms for many years, providing us with the perfect environment to host a really fun and special evening,” John said in a statement.

The always-on-style singer Gaga is nominated this year for Best Original Song at the soon to be celebrated Academy Awards, for “Til It Happens to You” which she wrote with Diane Warren for the documentary The Hunting Ground.

As an attendant, there was Lady Gaga’s fiancé, Taylor Kinney. The Chicago-Fire-Lead was spotted visiting Gaga at the VIP area.
