Cricket Wireless launches a $65 unlimited plan

Cricket Wireless, AT&T‘s pre-paid subsidiary, announced a new prepaid unlimited plan that will be available starting April 17, 2016. The clients will be able to get unlimited talk, text and data for $70 a month, which goes down to $65 a month if they sign up for Auto Pay.

The company said that users can either bring their Cricket smartphones or handsets of their own, with the intention of making T-Mobile clients switch to Cricket. T-Mobile also offers an unlimited data plan, but for $30 more than the former’s offering. Cricket has also offered a $100 credit for T-Mobile customers who make the switch.

The unlimited plan will also include no annual contracts, and the unlimited talk, text, and data access mentioned before will be available in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. This is included for Cricket’s Unlimited, Pro and Smart plans. The company will not make surprise charges as monthly taxes and fees, which are included in the stated plan price.

However, the data plan is unlimited in the amount of data you can use, not the speeds at which you can navigate so people will only be able to use 8Mbps for 4G LTE and 4Mbps for HSPA+.

Cricket was one of the fastest growing prepaid wireless companies in the United States in 2015, according to the president of the company.

“We wake up every morning focused on giving our customers what they want, more network, a great customer experience, and better plans for less money,” states John Dwyer, president of Cricket Wireless. “Cricket has over 275,000 more square miles of 4G LTE coverage than T-Mobile. And our unlimited plan for a single smartphone line is $25 less a month. More coverage for a lot less money – two great reasons to make the switch.”

If anyone cannot afford the $70 per month fee for the plan, Cricket will still offer its Basic, Smart, and Pro data plans, which go for $35, $45, and $55 a month, respectively, with auto-pay. The Basic plan includes 2.5GB of 4G LTE data, while Smart includes 5GB and Pro includes 10GB. They all include unlimited talk and text.
