U.S. – On Tuesday morning, Microsoft released worldwide the new Office 2016 for Windows. The company also launched Office 2016 for Mac as a “one-time purchase option”, raising its price more than 5 percent. Besides, the American multinational improved the services provided in Office 365.

This new version of Office aims to “take the work out of working together”, the company focused on developing a refreshed platform that it’s easy to use with your working partner without limitations. In order to improve these kind of services, Microsoft build a suit of integrated apps that empowers teams to accomplish better results without being messy and dysfunctional.

“Today we are delivering a set of experiences that are built for making teamwork seamless.” Kirk Koenigsbauer stated at Office Blogs.

Improvements

Microsoft released a real time co-authoring that will let users to have a better feedback from their working projects, letting the ones involved edit in Word on real time, seeing what others are writing immediately. Moreover, Skype for Business is now available in the client apps, allowing users to communicate through their documents, either sharing their screen or making video calls.

On top of that, the company gathered both Office 365 and Windows 10 so they can achieve their working objectives. Now, there is an Office Mobile apps and Continuum on Windows phones that will convert your phone in your own desktop, letting the user create, edit a presentation or even a sales budget plan from your device to a monitor while using the same phone to take notes with the OneNote app.

Security for businesses

Furthermore, this combination of Office 2016 apps with Office 365 created the most secure Office ever developed by Microsoft. The company wanted to built-in Data Loss Prevention (DLP), so users, mostly enterprises, could not fear the fact that their data is at risk of being leaked. The new tools included will create, manage and enforce policies for content authoring and document sharing.

“Multifactor Authentication ensures secure access to content anywhere when employees are away from the corporate network. We are also adding Information Rights Management to Vision.” said Koenigsbauer.

Moreover, the company will be enabling Enterprise Data Protection (EDP) for Windows 10, which will be effective for Office Mobile too, The EDP will be available for Office on Windows desktop in the first quarter next year.

‘One-time purchase option’

In order to have Office 2016 apps, users must buy the service. The cost of a single-license Office Home and Student 2019 edition rise $10 from its previous price which was $140 and now is $150 – Office Home & Business 2016 also climbed $10 from $220 to $230. However, the Office Professional 2016, which is only usable for Windows, kept its all-time price of $400.

Moreover, the Office 365 demand a monthly or annual charge so the software keep on working. The Office 365 Personal costs $70 annually and $7 monthly, while Office 365 Home costs $100 and $10, respectively. By last, Office 365 Business have several options that fluctuate from $99 to $240 annually for the right tu use the service.
