Nintendo released an official mini NES collector’s edition on Thursday. The company said players were going to be able to play 30 NES originals on the console. The company dropped the news as an exclusive article on its website where there is the complete list of games available for “NESy”. The Asian company set the suggested price at $59.99, and the original package will include the console, a controller which is the same as the original, the AC cords and the HDMI cable.

Baby NES is a miniature replica of the original console, and the company might have gotten too far with the reproduction part, the controller has a cord, and it seems like a short one. In spite of this, the idea is simply fantastic. The company’s team did not say anything about it, but since it works with an HDMI cable, it would be safe to assume a little make up for the visuals and the audio was applied.

All the games will have an auto-save feature which will allow players to stop for a while to do petty things like eating and sleeping. Multiplayer is an option, but customers will have to buy the extra controller for ten bucks, and there is a “PRO” version which will probably be a little more expensive. As a perk, people can connect them to the WII U or WII system consoles to play the classic emulated games the old-school way.

A machine that runs on nostalgia

Nowadays companies lash at each other over who has the most powerful console on the market, but back in the day, it was all about the games. Even though Nintendo is seen as childish now, the company released the first classics that originated almost every game genre there is now. All the 30 games are masterpieces, classics that every gamer should play at least once.

For example, modern players might have heard about Castlevania, some of them might even have played one of the latest releases, but now they have the opportunity to know where all started. The first two titles in the franchise were included on the roster, and people will finally realize how terrible the Belmont house is. The RPG lovers will cheers when they see Final Fantasy made it to the console, and the strategists will have the chance to measure their skills with GHOSTS N’ GOBLINS which is still considered one of the best games of the genre.

But not everything is rainbows and unicorns because it is time for this generation to understand what real raging is. The incredibly difficult Galaga was included as it was also the very frustrating Gradius.

In this tribute to this awesome console, Nintendo would not leave out the titles that took the company to where it is now. Both new and old fans alike will be able to re-live “The Legend of Zelda” with its emblematic intro and all the elements that birthed the adventure genre. The company is most famous for its platform scrollers, and the king of them all was apparently included, Mario Bros and the first three titles of Super Mario Bros are here to show kids who were the Italian plumbers that made the gaming industry possible.

All in all, it is a real golden piece on any old-school fan collection, and they can also use it to introduce their kids to gaming the same way they did.
