Miley Cyrus decided to go Saturday to the campus of the George Mason University in Virginia, to urge students to register and to vote for Hillary Clinton. The American singer was dressed like an American flag to support Clinton’s candidacy for the presidency.

The “Party in the USA” star joins the group of celebrities who have publicly campaigned for Hillary Clinton in her run to the White House. The former Disney star went door-to-door asking her fans at the Virginia University to support Clinton, urging them not to vote for Trump.

“Do you have any idea why I’m here dressed like an American flag?” Cyrus asked three male students. “I’m here supporting Hillary (Clinton) and Tim Kaine.”

Miley shows commitment to democracy

Miley’s public image has dramatically changed since her days as Hannah Montana. However, the actress has shown she does care about her country, and she is willing to use her privileged position as a famous actress and singer to raise awareness, especially among youth, about the importance to smartly participate in the upcoming presidential election.

“Miley is someone who is making a difference and we need more remarkable women to stand up and do just that,” said Katherine Quigley, 19, a sophomore at GMU. “She and I bonded over being from a very country town. Miley really is just a sweet educated country girl” she added.

Though she described herself as a conservative Republican, she admitted that she didn’t feel the pressure of Miley’s support for Hillary. As well, she said that no one on the floor knew that the superstar was going to the dorms, but she clarified that even though she is not a super fan, it was an honor having Miley there.

“She wanted to talk one-on-one to student leaders” added Quigley who is part of the Leadership and Community Engagement living Learning community that discusses about social justice.” she added.

As well, it is not the first time that Miley has cared about social issues. Her ‘The Happy Hippie Foundation’ works to fight injustices faced by homeless LGBTQ youth and other vulnerable populations. As well, PETA named Cyrus the “Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity” in 2015.

Celebrities endorse Hillary

The presidential elections are just a few weeks away, and more and more celebrities continue to campaign for Hillary, or maybe just against Trump. Some of the celebrities involved include Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Meryl Streep, Lena Dunham, Beyonce and several others. Robert Deniro has shown his intense opposition to Trump getting into the White House; as well, he said that Hillary has earned the right to be head of the country.

Recently, Katy Perry has manifested her enthusiasm for Hillary’s candidacy in Vegas, where she told young voters not to make excuses and go voting on November 8. She said this was an election that counted. Furthermore, the “Firework” star made a performance and delivered a speech during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia earlier this year.
