Michael Kors presented its new smartwatches. The wristwatches will be powered by Android Wear. The famous designer has been working on American sportswear for a long time and his creations earned him a very good place in the fashion industry. His company, Michael Kors Holdings Limited (KORS), has a very big catalog and today, they announced 2 new additions via e-mail.

For men, the company unveiled a sporty black wristwatch. Even though it’s meant to be very casual, the design is sober and it could proof a nice resource in any closet. For women, golden default straps with a black screen are the main features. Its straps are decorated by what it seems precious stones. The future owners of any of the 2 pieces will be able to customize them by switching straps and changing the display.

“It was important to us that the display watch was customizable, so users can incorporate their own personal style into their smartwatch,” Kors chairman and CEO John Idol told Mashable. “For example, through the day, customers will be able to change out straps or the watch face to reflect their mood or personal style.”

Michael Kors is a big player in the fashion world. He founded his company in 1981 and started opening retail stores in 2006. At the moment, MK Holdings has more than 550 stores and over 1500 in-store boutiques in various countries. He is also one of the main judges of Project Runaway which boosts his popularity. Google scored big time with this announce because this is probably going to make Android Wear the preferred choice of future designers.

The smartwatches’ objective is to combine fashion and technology. Even though there are no details on these particular devices, we do have some information on Android Wear. The OS supports both Android phones running a 4.3 or higher OS, and IPhones running IOS 8.2 or higher.

After pairing the phone and the smartwatch you have to keep them relatively close (a few feet) for it to work properly. However, if your watch is connected to WiFi and your phone is linked to WiFi or cellular connection, you can be in a party while your phone is in your house.

With Android Wear, users can make and receive calls, send messages, download different apps, and a long ETC. We will have to wait for the company to give full specs to know if the wristwatches will support all of the aspects of the OS.
