Kansas City is getting really violent. Police Departments have reported several killings in the last days including a 43-year-old woman, whose body was found in the back of a church.

There has been approximately 100 homicides in the metropolitan area this year. As well people is concerned about the racial scope of such crimes as tensions increase in America.

Northland Apartment homicide

Police are also investigating the death of a woman who was found in her apartment at Kansas City. Apparently, before 6 am Saturday Kansas City firefighters responded to a fire alert at the Northland, but soon as they arrived at Prairie View Apartments in the 6900 block of Northwest 80th Terrace, they realized they were in the middle of a crime scene.

The fire was quickly knocked down but then they found the victim. Police is still investigating around the area what is the 62nd reported homicide in Kansas City in 2016. They still haven’t made public the cause of death nor the victim’s identity.

Deadly shootings

Saturday, Kansas City police stated that a black man died in an afternoon shooting, which took place in 3400º block of S. Benton just after 2:30 p.m. The victim’s identity is not yet released; however, it was a young black man, who was around 20-year-old, he was taken to the hospital to receive medical care but he died later. Police are still tracing the perpetrator, nobody has been yet arrested.

As well, another man was shot dead in his apartment in Kansas City, on Saturday. The police found the 56-year-old man around 10 am. At 15 N. 10th St. with several bullet injuries. The victim’s identity is still unknown

Women found in a garbage container

This weekend, the police were called to a crime scene, finding a woman’s body at the back of a Church in Kansas City. Apparently, the murderer killed the woman and then threw her body in a garbage container where workers later found her with an engineering firm, who rushed into calling the police. The authorities are still investigating the case. The victim was identified as Demetrius V. Walker, 43-year-old women. Walker’s death is the 61st homicide in Kansas City this year.

Kansas citizens refuse violence

In response to the great amount of homicides and the racial tensions in Kansas City, the community has painted a mural sending the message of giving up violence rejecting thus blood spill. Michael Toombs was the artist who organized the activity. He admitted that though a mural is not going to solve the problems in America, “it doesn’t all have to be serious and it doesn’t all have to be bad news”, he said.

Additionally, Kansas City’s police chief, Darryl Forte, has shown concern about recent shootings, especially those involving black men. He admitted there is “an issue with too many African-American men being killed by police officers,” saying that it is due to poor training and unreasonable fear.
