The Hollywood Foreign Press awarded on Sunday some of the best movies, series and performances of the year. Announcing the winners and handing trophies were not the only exciting moments of the night. Since the red carpet coverage, the ceremony was full with moving and funny parts and other not so thrilling moments.

The 73rd installment of the Golden Globes awards, considered one of the most important awards along with the Oscars and the SAG awards, began as always with the red carpet runway show, where stars graced the carpet in style. Some of them from old-time-Hollywood glamour, other styles were more like fashion crimes.

The “Penny Dreadful actress,” Eva Green, Gina Rodriguez, the actress from “Jane The Virgin” and the “Blindspot actress,” Jamie Alexander are considered some of the best dress of the night. On the other hand, Katy Perry who wore a busty pink gown, America Ferrera, and Nathalie Dormer are some of the red-carpet criminals.

Jennifer Lawrence, who took the award for best actress in a leading role comedy or musical, promised some weeks ago an unforgettable moment at the red carpet as she implied her and her friend -also nominated in the same category- Amy Schumer, will wear the same dress for the ceremony. That was not the case at all, Lawrence was one of the best dressed for the night while Schumer worn an ill-fitting black and white dress.

Even though all the dress alike thing was not true, they did deliver one of the funniest moments at the night when they presented clips from their respective movies Joy and Trainwreck, which were both nominated for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.

Acceptance speeches

One of the biggest wins of the evening was Sylvester Stallone, who took home the Golden Globe award for his role in “Creed.” He hadn’t been nominated for a Globe since 1977. In his acceptance speech, the actor thanked his imaginary friend Rocky Balboa, for being the best friend he ever had.

Denzel Washington didn’t look excited about receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Tom Hanks introduced Washington, with an emotive speech, calling him “the actor of our generation” with a “legendary and noble” body of work.

“Great cinema lasts forever, and a great actor will forever astound us. Now, these clips will remind us that a single name can be a superlative synonymous with extraordinary,” Hanks said. “A single name can define an artist who is a peer and equal of all of the greatest legends of our craft. If Washington doesn’t ring out loud enough, then let the first name carry all the weight. And that name is Denzel.”

Washington, on the other hand, forgot his glasses so he couldn’t read the speech and improvised.

Other standout moments included the acceptance speeches by Lady Gaga. She declared it was one of the biggest moments of her life and compared her win to Cher in ‘Moonstruck’.

Actor Leonardo Dicaprio won the award of best actor in a drama film for the movie “The Revenant.” This is the 3rd Golden Globe for the actor, but this is extra special as everybody eagerly waits for the actor to finally take the Oscar home. Even though winning the Golden Globe does not necessarily mean the Oscar is a sure thing in the acting categories, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association have predicted the Oscar winners 90% of the time in the past 10 years.

The Golden Globes is the second major award ceremony of the year, after the Academy Awards. The award season, which traditionally airs the first weeks of each year will continue along January a February with ceremonies of different awards which include The Critics’ Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, British Academy Film Awards and Academy Awards, which closes the season as the most important Honor for the film industry.
