Springfield, Massachusetts – Camille Cosby, comedian Bill Cosby’s wife, has finally being deposed after amounts of late emergency motions to stop her from testify in his husband’s defamation case. The wife have stood by her husband after almost 50 allegations of sexual misconduct last year.

The comedian’s wife has given testimony for the first time in the defamation case against Bill Cosby that seven women filed after claiming that Cosby and his representatives defamed them, as they addressed to them as liars after they accused him of sexual allegations.

The deposition came after a lawyer for the supposedly defamed women argued that because Camille Cosby has been the TV star’s wife and business manager, she could have useful information about the case.

Cosby’s attorneys responded that the wife has had no involvement with the facts of allegations underlying the case as they added that her participation will create “an unnecessary media circus and personal security threat that serves no purpose other than to harass and embarrass her.”

U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni failed in the women’s favor and ordered the wife to be deposed at a Marriott hotel in the city, as reported by The Washington Post.

The location was argued by Monique Pressley, a Washington defense attorney for Cosby. She said that the news media would intimidate or emotionally aggravate the whitness in that location. Judge Mastroianni responded that is was not the first time a deposition of some notoriety has taken place at the hotel.

The deposition was held privately and with a row of black curtains to block media’s view of the proceeding in a hotel meeting room. The wife eluded cameras but was photographed entering the deposition place through the parking garage.

A positive statement?

The testimony from depositions are private and held by the lawyers of the parties involved so maybe words will not come out, but Camille Cosby has previously stated supportive messages for her husband, some of which took aim at his accusers.

Last year when the allegations became public, she noted that none of them will ever want to be in the position of attacking a victim, but the question should be, according to her, who was the victim in the allegations.
