The 43-year-old American actor, Ben Affleck, confirmed he will star in and direct the upcoming Batman film at the San Diego Comic-con on Saturday. He talked to his fans about the pressure of the stand-alone Batman film as he took an opportunity to share with them a selfie.

Rumors are finally over as Ben Affleck admitted Saturday he will wear the Caped Crusader suit one more time, but in a Batman solo film, in which he will be in front and behind cameras, interpreting Bruce Wayne and as director of the Warner Bros film.

This would be the third time Affleck wears the Batman suit, after “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” film (2016) alongside other Hollywood stars such as Henry Cavill and Jesse Eisenberg. And the upcoming Justice League film- set to be in theaters in November 2017- where he shares the screen with Gal Gadot, Cavill, Amy Adams and other famous personalities, in a movie that brings together several comic book heroes such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Aqua-man, the Flash and Cyborg.

A tremendous amount of pressure

“It’s really inspiring taking on something like this character and this story”, said the Pearl Harbor star.

However on this opportunity as Batman, Affleck will not have the support of the fellow Justice League stars.  He admitted to his fans in Comic-Con convention that there is a tremendous amount of pressure and “a tremendous amount of work that’s already gone into it.” He recognized the work in the Batman franchise, highlighting the effort and vision of Christopher Nolan, director of “the Dark Knight” Trilogy (2005-2012).

At Saturday Comic Con, the Golden Globe winner said there is no script for the new Batman film yet, and that he will not rush into it until having the script done.

“I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good,” said Affleck.

He also took a moment during his presentation at Comic-con to take a selfie with his fans to share via Twitter, revealing it’s the first time he tries that.

An inspiring challenge

Affleck understands how difficult would be directing and acting in a movie that belongs to such a beloved and recognized franchise, but he believed that is part of what he called “an inspiring challenge.”

Affleck initiated his career in Hollywood as an actor. “Gone baby gone” film was his debut as director back in 2007. Moreover, Batman will not be the first movie he directs and acts in at the same time. He has done it before in films such as “the Town” (2010) and “Argo” (2012), the last allow him to win several awards including the Golden Globe.

Currently, the upcoming Batman film doesn’t have an official date of release, as Warner directive also affirmed. Therefore, while he starts the filming process of the movie, Affleck has other projects such the “Justice League” and “suicide squad” premieres. Additionally, the gangster drama “live by night” where the talented actor directed, wrote and starred in is soon to be released in 2017.
