Apple CEO Tim Cook was briefly interviewed in New York while visiting the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday.

Cook and his nephew were on vacation when journalists asked him several questions about Apple’s role in the stock market and the newly released AirPods. Cook’s answers were vague regarding how was Apple doing it during the holidays and how the AirPods were performing in the market.

Apple CEO said he could not comment on business when asked, and added that the company has had a “great” holiday season. Regarding the AirPods, whose shipping dates are now six weeks out on Apple’s website, Cook said that the new gadget has been “a runaway success.” Cook stated Apple is making the AirPods as fast as they can to meet consumers’ demands.

Highly demanded or not enough in stock?

The AirPods were announced in September along with the iPhone 7 but finally reached the shelves on December 13, just before Christmas. The wireless gadget was available from Apple.com, Apple Stores, and Apple Authorized Resellers but soon the stock could not meet the market’s demand.

Now, AirPods are shipping on a six-week delay. AirPods units in stores are not expected until mid-February, The Verge reports.

Apple has not published AirPods sales figures, and it is not clear if the company will mention the new product on its upcoming earning releases. It is suspected that AirPods sales would be included under Apple’s “Other Products” category, allowing the company a private failure if AirPods do not meet sale expectations.

Apple’s “Other Products” represent only five percent of Apple’s sales and include revenues from Beats, iPods, Apple Watches, Apple TVs and various accessories. Thus, numbers are hard to analyze since sales could come from any of those products. If AirPods are part of the mixed category, it could suggest to investors and users that they are not yet an overall success to be considered an individual category.

How efficient are Apple’s AirPods?

The Airpods are Apple’s wireless listening experience packed with high-quality audio and long battery life. They use advanced technology to not only listen to music but make phone calls, enjoy TV shows and movies, play games and interact with Siri, Apple explained.

The wireless headphones come with a charging case that with a simple tap can be set up to all devices signed into an iCloud account, including Apple Watches, iPads, Macs, and of course, iPhones.

Airpods have advanced sensors that detect when the gadget is in the user’s ear. Those sensors can automatically play and pause music. To interact with Siri, users have to double tap on the AirPods. Siri allows access to select and control music, get directions, make and receive calls and perform other tasks.

The wireless experience is enabled by the new ultra-low power Apple W1 chip, which allows AirPods to deliver high-quality audio with an extended battery life. Apple stated that AirPods deliver up to five hours of listening time on one charge while the charging case holds additional charges for an industry-leading total of more than 24 hours of listening time.

Several reviews report that many users have been having battery problems with their Charging Case. Apart from some battery issues, reviews have been mostly positive praising the sound quality, battery life, better than expected Bluetooth range, ease of connectivity and effectiveness when exercising.
